Video 1 – Bass Picking
For the first video of this next series
on chords, Ben guides you through a cool new
right hand technique to add interest to you
playing.
Video 2 – Country Style Bass Picking
In this video, Ben shows you a cool
variation on the 12 Bar Blues in G with some
country inspired bass picking to get your right
hand working!
Video 3 – F major 7 Chord
For those of you who have tried to play
the F chord, you’ll know how hard it is. Ben
shows you the F major 7 chord to give your hands
a break from playing F for a while. There is
also a cool chord progression to go with it.
Video 4 – D minor chord
This lovely somber chord is coupled
with some right hand bass picking.
Video 5 – Arpeggio Picking
Arpeggio picking sounds complicated,
but it’s just another technique we can use with
our right hand to add interest to your chords
Video 6 – Bass
picking and Arpeggios combined!
This isn’t as tricky as it sounds, but
it adds even more interest to arpeggios.
Video 7 – G7 Chord
Ben looks at a cool version of the 12
Bar Blues in C with the chords C, G7 and F major
7!
Video 8 – Use of a capo
Using a capo is pretty straight
forward, but Ben shows you here how to adjust
your chords if you’re playing with another
instrument or with a guitar without a capo. For
more information check out the theory sections.
Video 9 – A7 and E7 chords
Ben adds some more interest to the
standard 12 Bar Blues covered in Beginner Chords
1 with these hip A7 and E7 chords!
Video 10 – Strumming and
Arpeggios combined!
This technique is one of Ben’s favourite
techniques (along with lots of other players) to
bring your chords to life!
Video 11 – C7 chord
This hip C7 chord is used here in 2
chord progressions.
Video 12 – Right Hand
Percussive Mute
Did you want to become a drummer
instead of a guitarist but you weren’t allowed
to buy one because of the noise? If so, Ben
looks at a cool percussive technique to add some
punch to your strumming!
Video 13 – More
Percussive Mutes!
Ben looks at applying some mutes into
the classic rhythms we covered in Beginner
Chords 1.
Video 14 – B7 chord
Ben takes you through the B7 chord in
this lesson – take it slowly because B7 is a
tricky four-fingered chord. The chord is played
in a progression with bass picking and
percussive mutes.
Video 15 – Play Along
Series
Ben quickly recaps what we’ve covered
in the course so far and introduces the ‘Play
Along Series’ in the next six videos!
Video 16 – Pop rock groove
Ben plays a classic pop rock style
chord progression here with percussive muting.
Video 17 – The return of
bass picking
This chord progression really comes to
life when we put some bass picking into it.
Heaps of songs and styles use this technique
heaps!
Video 18 – Passing bass
notes
This video has an awesome idea used
heaps in country music. Although this example
isn’t country, it shows you the possibilities of
this technique.
Video 19 – Left Hand
Workout 1
Ben plays heaps of chords in this left
hand work out (6 chords) to really see if you’ve
learnt all the chords well!
Video 20 – More 12 Bar
Blues
This funky 12 Bar Blues pattern uses
some cool 7th chord variations to really spice
it up!
Video 21 – Left Hand
Workout 2
This is probably the hardest
progression so far, with little pivot fingers
and a fast strum. Good luck! It uses the chords
A, Am, G, C, Fmajor7, Dm, D and E7.
Video 22 – Congratulations
Congrats on completing this Beginner Chords 2
video series! Keep having fun and playing with
as many people as you can!
